Aaron Ramsey looking forward to season restart with Juventus

Wales international Aaron Ramsey is looking forward to the resumption of the Serie A campaign following the coronavirus shutdown. The 29-year-old has experienced a mixed debut season with Juventus where he has suffered a few niggles and that has restricted his playing time from the starting lineup.

Still, he was able to find some form before the shutdown and he is looking forward to the season restart, he told Sky Sport Italia: “I feel very good. We’re back out on the pitch and it’s been great. Italy triggered the lockdown early, so I decided to stay here. I’m happy about the season restarting. I think that, overall, Italy has tried to respond to the pandemic the best it can. I believe that all the steps taken have been the right ones and now everything is getting back to normal. We’re happy to restart, following the safety protocols, and we’re looking forward to starting again behind closed doors and without fans. We’ll think about ending the season, and then we’ll see what happens.”

Ramsey was a regular starter under Maurizio Sarri prior to the shutdown and he was particularly impressive against Inter Milan, where he bagged a goal and an assist during a 2-0 win. That victory preserved the Bianconeri’s slender one-point advantage over Lazio at the top of the table and the club have everything to play for when the season recommences.

On paper, the Turin giants are favourites to go on to win a ninth-straight league title but they can’t underestimate Lazio, who have dropped just four points from the previous 18 league matches. Moreover, Simone Inzaghi’s side have beaten them twice in the Serie A and Italian Super Cup final this term and they have shown that no pushovers in the title pursuit. Both teams have another seven games to play before they face each other at the Allianz Stadium next month.
