Gary Neville gives reason behind Aaron Ramsey’s anticipated Arsenal exit

Manchester United legend Gary Neville believes manager Unai Emery is aiming to change the mentality at Arsenal by parting ways with the likes of Mesut Ozil and Aaron Ramsey at the end of the season. Ramsey is widely expected to leave the Gunners on a free when his contract expires in the summer but he could be joined by Ozil, who has dropped down the pecking order under the Spanish tactician.

In a report covered by The Mail, the former United right-back highlighted that Emery needs at least four to five transfer windows to sort out the mess at the north London side. He added that the Spaniard wants players, who can transform the club to the next level and the likes of Ozil and Ramsey may not fit into the scheme of things.

He said: "Emery needs four or five transfer windows to get things right. It does not surprise me that Mesut Ozil and Aaron Ramsey are on the way out. Emery wants players that can transform the club, so he has to be able to ship players out, to be able to correct things. It is like a cultural shift, a big mentality shift. But he needs to do that and needs time."

“Both Ozil and Ramsey have found themselves on the bench regularly during the current season“ but the latter has got the chance to impress from the starting lineup whenever the big games have come about. Nonetheless, Ramsey’s future appears sorted in advance and reports have recently indicated that the Welshman has already completed the first part of the medical ahead of “the proposed Bosman move“ to Juventus during the summer.

Ozil, on the other hand, could have left the Gunners during the winter transfer window itself as Paris Saint-Germain were keen on landing him. The World Cup winner was wanted by the French champions on a temporary deal, though the attacker snubbed their advances in order to fight for his Gunners future.
