Paris Saint Germain (PSG) sporting director Leonardo has refused to rule out the signing of Juventus superstar Cristiano Ronaldo. The Portuguese international skipper has been linked with a move to Parc des Princes in the last few days after reports emerged that his club is open to his sale.
At the start of the week, various media reports disclosed that Juventus want to remove Ronaldo’s salary from their wage bill and that they are not ready to offer the player a new deal. To this effect, the 35-year-old has been linked with several big clubs including French Ligue 1 champions PSG.
Leonardo talked about the transfer rumours involving his club and Ronaldo while responding to questions from fans on Twitter. On Ronaldo, the ex-Milan star said that PSG are one of five or six clubs that could sign Cristiano Ronaldo if he leaves the Old Lady next summer as reported.
Italian football received a massive lift following the signing of Cristiano Ronaldo in 2018. The ex-Sporting Lisbon, Real Madrid and Manchester United signed for the Old Lady in a deal worth €100m plus annual wages of around €31m. He penned a four-year deal upon joining Juventus from Real Madrid.
Since signing for Juventus two years ago, Ronaldo has scored 58 goals and provided 14 assists in 68 Italian Serie A games. He also has 10 goals in 18 Champions League games for the Italian champions.
Ronaldo has missed some games for Juventus this season after he contacted Coronavirus last month. He was absent for five matches (two Champions League games and three league games). He returned from the Covid-19 induced break to good effect with a brace during the 4-1 away win over lowly Spezia in the league.
He has scored three goals in just two Serie A matches to take his overall tally to six goals in four league outings this season.
